Turbat and healthcare

Turbat and healthcare

KARACHI:

Turbat is the second largest city of Balochistan but the healthcare facilities there are almost non-existent. There are no good public-sector hospitals in the city and hardly any qualified doctors. Those that are available cannot even deal with ordinary cases, let along the emergency ones. The hospitals are not even equipped to provide a small bandage to the patients to put on a wound, what to talk of critical radiology facilities. Medicines too have to be purchased from private drug stores — something which a majority of the residents cannot afford. A few private hospitals are working in the city, but they are a no-go zone for a majority of the populace as they are extremely expensive. The federal and provincial governments must pay an urgent attention to this grave plight of the citizens of Turbat.
