KARACHI:
Due to rising inflation, unemployment, energy crisis and political uncertainty in the country, more and more people are now unable to douse the fire of their bellies let alone paying event scant attention to their health and education needs. According to reports, a big percentage of our population has gone down the poverty line. The weakening rupee is one factor for the rising petrol prices which is fuelling the inflation rate further. Unfortunately, the leading political parties of the country seem more interested in fighting each other out and enter the power corridors. Politics of hatred and sub-nationalism prevalent across the country is adding to the political instability which in turn is worsening the economic situation. Amid all that, the ongoing killer monsoon season is wreaking havoc across the country, with a large number of people in Sindh and Balochistan rendered shelterless and without food and other basic necessities. This is time for our political leadership to bury their differences and unite on one-point agenda of economic revival.
