Societal decay

Societal decay

KARACHI:

Pakistani society is so deeply mired in the whirlpool of hatred, grudge, egotism, unwavering gluttony, moral decay and fight over petty matters that we have gone blind to our pristine societal moral values such as honesty, helpfulness, kindness, humanity, altruism and love. Once our strengths, these societal values have faded away now like a puff of air.

Moreover, immorality has deeply seeped into the layers of our society which has descended into a bottomless abyss of moral turpitude. This structurally systematic societal decline, armed with blood-thirsty tentacles and suffocating social psyche, consumes many struggling souls. People are manipulative and materialistic and want to become rich overnight. They are on the lookout for an opportunity to lower others or find some reason to mock them.

In addition, hypocrisy has taken deep roots in our society and people are not what they pretend to be. There is a stark contrast between people’s appearance and reality. They deceive others for their ulterior motives and vested interests. They have no qualms in inflicting agony on others. They have become too selfish and too inhumane.

To conclude, we, as a society, have become morally corrupt and need to reform our collective and individual psyche from a toxic to a morally enlightened one, and from a biased to an unprejudiced one.
