National interests

KARACHI:

Our country has an abundance of natural resources that can bring considerable economic benefits and support national development if utilised effectively. Pakistan also has a pivotal geoeconomics, geopolitical, and geostrategic position because of which international players have always kept their hands on the pulse of national security.

Political and economic instability also impede the state’s ability to deal with security challenges and existential threats. The international players have vested interests in maintaining political vulnerability in the country so that the foreign policy can be shaped in consonance with their interests. Therefore, the state must lean its energies on political stability because it is crucial for economic prosperity and national sovereignty.

Globally, countries with political stability and strong economic growth do not face any internal or external security threats and instead enjoy bilateral relations with other countries. Therefore, our state institutions and politicians must realise the importance of political stability and prioritise national interests. Otherwise, the country will fail to achieve socio-economic development and continue facing challenges in promoting national peace and prosperity.
