KARACHI:
I believe that MS and PhD classes should be conducted through synchronous online techniques to improve students’ efficiency. During such unprecedented times, students not only have academic responsibility but are encumbered with a number of other demanding responsibilities like domestic chores and house work. We can’t expect them to be everywhere at the same time.
Owing to this reason, the higher education sector suffers from short attendance and high dropout rates along with minimal strength in classes. Those students who are employed, in order to attend physical classes, have to go through the double hassle of convincing their bosses every other day and commuting long distances to reach their universities. During the commute, they suffer from regular traffic jams and often end up getting late. Online classes can improve the efficiency of the higher education system and multiply the rate of researchers in our country. Since students will have trouble-free accessibility to place and time, they can attend class anytime and anywhere without being late and without missing parts of their lecture. The performance of teachers also improves a great deal when conducting online classes as they can use a variety of different innovative tools to disseminate information. Moreover, online classes are more affordable than traditional classes and won’t be heavy on the pocket of students who have myriad financial responsibilities on their shoulders.
To improve the rate of scholars in our country, Pakistan’s higher education system needs to look into this matter seriously. We need to incorporate technology effectively and wisely in our education system to get the maximum result. This is high time to incorporate modern online teaching techniques.
