ISLAMABAD:

In Pakistan, nearly 24.3% of the population live below the poverty line because of which many other issues such as illiteracy, disease-spread and poor health, unemployment, high crime rates, drug abuse, child labour, etc have also risen. Although the government has undertaken different measures to alleviate these issues and facilitate people, it cannot alleviate the problem entirely because of our slow economic growth and limited budget. Therefore, we as responsible citizens must take individual measures to help the underprivileged/less fortunate.

Across the country, some individuals have undertaken exemplary initiatives to educate underprivileged children free of cost and provide them with study materials. Some prefer helping individual families by providing them financial assistance for either their children’s education, healthcare, etc. We must learn from these examples and try to help others in the best way possible. Instead of constantly blaming political leaders for not doing enough, we must analyse our actions and think of what we can do better to help society grow and prosper.

People should adopt sustainable and ethical consumption habits and instead of hoarding things, people should give away things to those who need them. Also, everyone should adopt a diversified approach in their contributions by donating to a range of organisations/charities. Lastly, charitable efforts can be empowering as we have the ability to help others. It fosters humility, which allows us to be grateful and satisfied with our lives. Through our charitable actions, we convey a positive message to others around us and encourage them to do the same.
