Deplorable living conditions

KARACHI:

Despite having a population of nearly 500,000, the Hussainabad subdivision of Hyderabad is in a deplorable state. The residents are faced with several issues because of poor infrastructure and the absence of facilities. It has become extremely challenging for people to travel from one place to another as most of the roads are in shabby condition.

Some of the busiest roads of the town have become dangerous to use as they are inundated with sewerage water, which has caused many accidents. Instead of using the main roads, pedestrians are forced to take longer routes to avoid the dirty pathways. The spillage from sewerage water has also polluted the air making it difficult for people living in these areas to breathe. Residents are commonly infected with diseases such as dengue, malaria, and others.

The relevant authorities should consider this matter at their earliest and implement measures to resolve the issue. Residents should avoid disposing of garbage on the streets as it clogs the drains. Old pipelines should be replaced with new ones and bottlenecks should be created to improve the sewerage system.
