Islamabad in danger

Islamabad in danger

KARACHI:

Before the pandemic, the police would regularly patrol all sectors of Islamabad because of which street crimes and other illegal activities would remain under control. However, since the pandemic, the police no longer patrol most of the underdeveloped sectors in the city. Consequently, incidents of snatching and theft have drastically increased. Each week at least two to three incidents of theft take place. The easiest targets for snatchers are university students. In retaliation, students have reported incidents to the police while some have even posted on social media to raise awareness about the deteriorating security conditions and inaction of the police. The authorities however continue to remain oblivious of these concerns.

Such negligence is offering leverage to the perpetrators who continue to commit crimes through force and intimidation. We request the police and other relevant authorities to take urgent measures to ensure the safety and security of all citizens in the city.
