Girls’ education

Girls’ education

KARACHI:

It is a fact that women contribute considerably to the overall socio-economic condition of Pakistan. Not only are they a part of the workforce but they are also given the responsibility of managing the household. However, women in remote areas find it difficult to acquire education and contribute to the society.

According to Unicef, an estimated 8.6 million girls are enrolled with primary schools in Pakistan but only 2.8 million go on to acquire secondary education. The remaining 5.8 million girls fail to continue due to domestic problems. Thus, the government should take steps to increase women’s literacy rate in the country. For this, education must be made free and incentives must be provided to families.
