KARACHI:
Back in October, when the Pakistani cricket squad was first announced, many people expressed their doubts and reservations over the capabilities of the selected players. However, the outstanding performance of the team during the recent ICC T20 World Cup left everybody — including rival teams, experts and the fans — in awe.
The most memorable victory of this team will always be the most recent one against India because it broke our losing streak against our arch-rival in World Cup contests. It reminded all the teams and fans that Pakistan has the potential to win. Here we must acknowledge skipper Babar Azam’s role in fostering coordination and spirit amongst the players, which solidified their performance. The absence of animosity or competitiveness within the team shows that teamwork goes a long way.
Despite Pakistan’s loss in the semi-final, the team’s performance did not falter. This was proven in Pakistan’s victory in the series against Bangladesh earlier this month. The team performed well in both T20 and Test matches demonstrating diversity and resilience. The consistent performance is worthy of praise, which was further proven by the latest victory against the West Indies. Pakistan’s team is quickly rising up the rankings and has taken everyone by surprise. As fans, we must always appreciate the team and back them in both their victories and losses. Our support coupled with their hard work will bring more victories for the team in the upcoming series against Australia.
