KARACHI:
Human development is an investment in human beings aimed at building an educated and healthy workforce. This in turn can help increase productivity and growth, and create equal opportunities for all. The potential of human beings should be used in such a way that it not only benefits individuals themselves but also aids society and the state at a larger scale.
Education is attributed as the determining factor in human development. In essence, it prepares the right person for the right job. When an effective, skilled, highly motivated, and properly trained professional enters the workforce, he/she inevitably contributes to the economic growth and prosperity of the entire country. Unfortunately, successive governments have never paid attention to this important factor. This is the main reason that our county has been lagging behind in all social sectors. Politics, economic stagnation, and crumbling public faith in state institutions have become our major hallmarks. There is a dire need to invest in human capital so that Pakistan can also reap the dividends of the 21st century.
