KARACHI:
The main road of Dashti Bazar that connects Turbat town with the main city is in a deplorable state because of overflowing sewerage lines on the road. The road has been in a poor state for months but there has been no attempt to repair it. Even though the district administration and municipal corporation employees all use the same road daily, but no one dares to take the initiative.
The road is important because it is the only link to the main city and is the reason for its wide usage. Students take the road to go to school while others use it to go to the mosque, bazar, etc. The spillage from the drains makes it difficult for pedestrians to walk. Many people have gotten into accidents and sustained severe injuries. Others have lost lives all because of the sheer negligence of the district administration.
Residents of the area have raised their concerns with the municipal corporation time and again, but all their attempts have gone in vain. The road has become a source of distress for the people and their patience is now running low. Many have considered filing a Public Interest Litigation before High Court for safeguarding their constitutional and legal rights. Nonetheless, it is imperative that the concerned authorities take pragmatic measures to refurbish the road to ensure the safety of the people because it is their constitutional right.
