School post-Covid

School post-Covid

KARACHI:

As a student myself, I want to share the experience of how Covid-19 has affected the lives of students. When the physical classes transitioned to online, students got more involved in the virtual world with excessive use of laptops and mobile phones. Online games and social media apps work as addictions. Especially if family members do not look after their children and limit the use of laptops and phones, the children become glued to their gadgets.

Consequently, students are no longer interested in any physical sports and have lost interest in reading and learning. Most students prefer spending their spare time online on different social media applications. Naturally, this has had a detrimental impact on their development and knowledge because they are now performing poorly during examinations. Students now have shorter attention spans because the virtual world offers many things at once. Therefore, we are constantly switching from one thing to another.

The students cannot keep up with the pace of physical classes because online education did not do justice to learning. Students were promoted without being provided with sufficient knowledge so that the schools could justify the extortionate fees rates. Many students are now facing hurdles in their studies and will be required to put in more effort than usual. It is important that teachers and parents guide and support the students befittingly so that they can keep pace with their levels of learning.
