KCR in a shambles

Letter October 10, 2021

KARACHI:

This is with reference to the news article “Pakistan Railway attempts to generate revenue for KCR” published in your newspaper on October 6, which states that Karachiites are not interested in using the KCR and as a result the Pakistan Railway is incurring losses due to the lack of passengers. In order to investigate the claim, I visited the KCR station at Orangi Town on the morning of October 7. I found out that only one KCR train was operating, that too at an odd time, with arrival at 10:30am and departure at 04:10pm. Not a single train was running during peak morning and evening hours, from 7am to 9am and 5pm to 8pm respectively. Moreover, the outside of the station was surrounded by garbage, trash and pools of sewage water.

I have taken pictures and recorded videos of the pathetic condition that the KCR station is in. I will be posting them on my Facebook page soon. I humbly appeal to the honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of this and order the Pakistan Railways to undertake an extensive cleaning project of the station and ensure that KCR trains are operating during peak hours.
