KARACHI:
The dengue virus has rapidly been spreading across Punjab with hundreds of fresh cases being reported on a daily basis. As of this week, the case count has crossed 1,500. Hospital wards established for dengue patients are fully occupied and there is no room to accommodate more patients. The concerned authorities need to remain vigilant because if the situation exacerbates, it could put immense strain on the already burdened healthcare system of the province.
Citizens need to be cautious as well and ensure that rainwater does not accumulate in their houses since dengue mosquitoes breed in clean and stagnant water. We must use insect repellents and wear long-sleeved shirts when going outside in the evening. Please protect yourselves and your family at all costs.
