Educational resources

Education is at the forefront of advancement and development everywhere around the world today

KARACHI:

The students at the University of Turbat are deprived of specialised education because of an absence of trained teaching faculty and other educational resources. Most of the teachers are ‘visiting teachers’ and none of them has specialised in any particular field. Teachers are constantly replaced, which has caused many disruptions in students’ learning. In 2014, the faculty was much better with trained experts. However, the deteriorating situation of the university resulted in many teachers leaving the institute.

Education is at the forefront of advancement and development everywhere around the world today. Due to a lack of support from the teaching faculty and limited resources, the students of Turbat are being left behind. Most teachers are not qualified for teaching university courses and resort to outdated course books for teaching. The teaching sessions are not interactive and student friendly. Consequently, students do not gain any value from university classes. Most universities provide students with reading materials and resources to support their learning. However, the students at the University of Turbat are required to find resources themselves and learn things on their own. The dire state of the university and teaching faculty has discouraged students, and many have dropped out of the university altogether. Some students travel to other parts of the country for higher education, but this is not a feasible option for all.

Therefore, the provincial government needs to implement policies and allocate a budget to improve higher education within Balochistan. I request the federal and provincial governments to pay attention to the needs of students in Turbat. These students should not be left behind in growth and progress. The relevant authorities need to work towards reforming the institute by allocating funds to secure the futures of students.
