ISLAMABAD:
Our beloved country is in the grip of various crises such as the Covid-19 pandemic, unbearable inflation, continued inclusion in the FATF grey list. To make matters worse, the situation in the neighbouring Afghanistan is changing by the day. However, one is amazed at the audacity of our leaders who seem oblivious of such problems.
Unfortunately, our media has also become a part of the ugly blame-game involving the politicians. It has become partisan to the political games. While some support the PML-N, others sing praises to the PPP and criticise the incumbent government. The government has SAPMs only to inform people about how corrupt the past government was. Similarly, the oppositions parties are only focused on cases against their leaders and want their share of the pie. This circus has been going on forever in the land of the pure. It seems hurling insults at each other is more important to our leaders than the survival of the country.
I wonder if our politicians and power brokers will ever learn to rise above their personal lust for power and work toward strengthening the economy. They must at least agree on some core issues and present a united stand to the world. It is now or never. Only concerted action can take the country out of crises or else we might not survive.
