Soft drinks

Letter August 18, 2021
Countries must regulate the sale and purchase of soft drinks and impose a complete ban on certain soft drinks with exceedingly hazardous side effects

KARACHI:

Soft drinks have a negative impact on human health. Teenagers and young adults are the largest consumers of soft drinks in any country, which is why they are disproportionately affected by health concerns. One such popular soft drink contains strong acids such as citric acid, erythrobic acid, ethylene-diamine-tetra acetic acid, and brominated vegetable oil. This composition of the soft drink causes monstrous effects on human health such as abdominal cramps, colon stains, diarrhea, and infertility in men. That particular brand of soft drink is banned in more than 100 counties because of its harmful composition. One more popular soft drink contains phosphoric acid and citric acid, which has a detrimental impact on one’s physical health. It causes bloating, weight gain, diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, and leptin resistance.

These are just some of the side effects of these drinks. Countries must regulate the sale and purchase of soft drinks and impose a complete ban on certain soft drinks with exceedingly hazardous side effects. I humbly request the authorities concerned to carry out a proper investigation regarding the ingredients of soft drinks and ban those with harmful effect so as to ensure the healthy growth of our youth.
