Mini-truck explosion

Letter August 17, 2021
There is an urgent need to probe the incident to bring the culprits to book

KARACHI:

The tragic death of 13 people of an extended family in an explosion in Karachi during the month of Muharram must be condemned in strongest of the words. The family, according to reports, had been returning to their home, after attending a wedding ceremony, in a mini-truck which got exploded. It appears to be a heinous attempt to trigger sectarian discord during the sensitive month of mourning.

There is an urgent need to probe the incident to bring the culprits to book. Besides, those who have been injured in the incident must be provided with best treatment facilities on the government expenses and the heirs of the victims must be given due compensation. The law enforcement authorities must stay alert and avoid any untoward incident from happening — not just in Karachi but also the whole of Pakistan.
