KARACHI:
On Monday, door-to-door vaccination drive kicked off in the five high-risk districts in the province of Punjab. The drive began with the aim to vaccinate 40 per cent population of four districts, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and Gujranwala, and 70 per cent of Rawalpindi. According to news reports 13 million people have been vaccinated in Punjab and nearly 350,000 people are getting vaccinated daily.
I deeply appreciate the stringent measures taken by the government of Punjab to get citizens vaccinated to combat the fourth wave of the coronavirus. We hope that other provinces of Pakistan will follow in the same steps. I also want to address the rumors that have been circulating on social media due to which citizens have been hesitant to get the vaccine. I urge the authorities concerned to address these rumors and conduct awareness campaigns across the country in order to educate the public about the benefits of getting vaccinated.
