KARACHI:
There is a dearth of libraries in Quetta. Throughout the day, the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah library, the city’s lone library, remains overcrowded with students reading books, doing research or studying for exams. Most students who arrive late have to unfortunately make do by sitting on the floor.
Despite the lack of resources and inadequate facilities, the library has turned into a sanctuary for students who are looking to escape their deprived life. They are well aware that the city does not have much to offer, so they study hard and educate themselves in order to apply for higher education and jobs outside the city. Moreover, the library has become a research hub for students from all across Balochistan. Students from Kech, Tump and many other districts try to stay in Quetta for as long as possible in order to study. Such a situation indicates that while the youth of Balochistan is eager to make something of themselves, they lack proper facilities. As a result, their intellectual capacity remains underdeveloped due to which they are unable to compete with the rest of the country.
It is my humble request to the federal government to take matters into their own hands and provide for the deprived students of Balochistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan has time and again emphasised the importance of education. Now it is time for him to put his money where his mouth is.
