KARACHI:
Conflicts around the world have left a vast number of humans homeless. Sinking humanity has derived 1% of the world’s population to move to other countries after having been displaced from their motherland as an effect of unbearable oppression. According to the UNHCR, around 82 million people are living as refugees across the world. Among them, Pakistan has provided shelter to 1.4 million refugees while Turkey is hosting 3.7 million people in what is the highest number of refugees in any country. Other countries that have received the most number of refugees include Lebanon, Jordan, Nauru, Liberia, Uganda, Malta, Sudan, etc. Moreover, the Covid-19 pandemic has changed everything except the rise in social inequalities, violence, wars and racism.
According to another report, teens are being affected more in these wars as wars deprive them of their fundamental rights which include education and health. The wars also cause destruction of their childhood which is the period of their growth. How can humans be this cruel? How can they deprive innocent children of their rights?
Refugees cannot go back to their homes until the conflicts are resolved. But since such deep-rooted conflicts are hard to settle, it’s better for the international community to look after the developing countries where refugees are residing. It is prayed that the wars end soon so that people can go back to their homelands.
