KARACHI:

A large population of the youth that resides in Balnigwar, an area in the Kech district of Balochistan, is in dire need of colleges. Balnigwar has just one high school for boys while girls are devoid of a proper educational institution. The people who reside in the area are poor as their only source of income is from their lands which yield crops when there is sufficient rainfall. Most of the students are compelled to quit their studies after matriculation as financial problems prevent them from pursuing further education. Those who have enough money go to colleges in other cities, such as Gwadar and Turbat.

If a college had been set up in the region, students would not have had to face so many challenges to acquire education, which is their basic right. The concerned authorities must pay attention to the deplorable situation that people are in and establish a college so that local students can get an education and serve the country. It is time to give priority to education if Balochistan is to develop, prosper and compete with other provinces in the country.
