Bubble budget

Bubble budget

JOHI:

The 2021-22 budget is out with a lot of ambitious promises for all. But it seems to be no different from those presented by past governments. Laden with heavy subsidies for the privileged business class, the budget provides a minuscule increase of 10% in salaries of government servants and pensioners. This is being considered as an insult to the injury as over the years, under the stewardship of the PTI government, prices of the most essential commodities have doubled.

To compensate for galloping inflation there should have been at least 30-40% increase in salaries. For those at bottom level of economic ladder, hardest hit by economic policies of present government, there is nothing. The budget is jugglery with words for the poorest and a bubble budget when push comes to shove by the IMF.
