KARACHI:
Milk is a great source of nutrients like protein, phosphorus, vitamin B and D, and potassium. It also provides calcium which makes our bones and teeth stronger. However, cows are now given oxytocin in order to increase their milk production. And more production means more profit. The use of oxytocin in animals is unethical; it causes them immense pain, shortens their lifespan, and makes them infertile. Unfortunately, purchasing oxytocin does not require any prescription and it is easily available in general stores across the country. Farmers only focus on their monetary benefits instead of caring about the consumers’ health. I, therefore, appeal to the government to ban the use of oxytocin and ensure that animal rights are upheld.
