Concrete jungle

Society is a concrete jungle devoid of green spaces and parks

KARACHI:

DHA Phase II is a massive housing society nestled between the Grand Trunk Road and the Islamabad Highway. The society is a concrete jungle devoid of green spaces and parks. Most of the land has been converted into plots in order to make more money. The entire phase comprising thousands of housing units is devoid of a comprehensive medical care facility, which is quite concerning. Shopping malls are sprawling in and around DHA Phase II, but no pharmacy is available. You can find clothing stores, food courts and movie theaters, but no healthcare-related outlet. There is lack of security, and thefts and armed robberies are on the rise. Nothing significant has been done to ensure quality facilities or maintain environment-friendly town planning. Re-allocating public spaces as residential or commercial plots has even worsened the situation. It seems as if everything in our country is driven by greed, with no regard to civility and sustainability.
