SPSC: nepotism, corruption

Letter June 05, 2021
Sindh Public Service Commission has lost its credibility because of the prevalence of corruption and nepotism

HYDERABAD:

The Sindh Public Service Commission has lost its credibility because of the prevalence of corruption and nepotism. Political influence is rampant while authorities remain negligent when it comes to preparing the question paper.

In 2020, the SPSC appointed hundreds of assistant sub-inspectors, who neither know how to write or speak proper English, in multiple districts of Sindh through nepotism and political influence. This has frustrated the talented and deserving youth of Sindh. Instead of appointing these sub-inspectors based on merit, the SPSC sold these jobs for personal gain. Such practices have destroyed the future of these talented candidates. Under the power of PPP, the SPSC has never been transparent or independent. Instead of providing jobs to well-deserved candidates, the party has always played a fundamental role in recruiting influencers to strengthen their constituency in Sindh. That is why candidates have been protesting against the oppression and injustice of the PPP occupied Public Service Commission.

The Sindh High Court bench in Hyderabad had ordered the SPSC to make their recruitment mechanism transparent within two months. The Supreme Court too had earlier ordered the SPSC to bring transparency in the examinations, but the commission ignored the order.
