ISLAMABAD:
Some positive news has appeared on the horizon as the tally of new coronavirus cases continues to decline. According to the recent statistics, the positivity rate has reduced to 3.71%. This indicates that precautionary measures and smart lockdowns have helped us evade the catastrophe and devastation that wrecked our neighbour, India.
The vaccination drive, also making headway, has proven to be a catalyst in halting the contagious and lethal virus from spreading. Furthermore, the NCOC has now announced walk-in vaccination for those above the age of 19. This is indeed a commendable and praiseworthy step and one hopes that herd immunity will soon be achieved and things will go back to normal. However, there is one serious issue. There are millions of Afghan refugees living in Pakistan who are not registered with NADRA. Vaccinating this humongous population of Afghan immigrants is also a herculean task. Moreover, the rapid increase in conspiracy theories regarding the vaccine is also causing trouble.
