Water crisis in Gwadar

Letter June 04, 2021
It’s no revelation that water is not available in Gwadar to fulfill the needs of the citizens

KARACHI:

Gwadar is one of the most beautiful cities of Balochistan and has strategic importance for Pakistan. Gwadar Port is situated on the shores of the Arabian Sea in the city of Gwadar. But unfortunately, the citizens of Gwadar are suffering from a serious water shortage. Need one say that water is the most basic need of human beings, and its provision should be the most fundamental duty of the authorities. Water is life — what else shall one say to emphasise the point.

It’s no revelation that water is not available in Gwadar to fulfill the needs of the citizens. Every now and then, citizens come out in protest against this basic need. They hold demonstrations outside government offices and buildings, and block roads and highways so as to press the authorities for their fundamental right, but to no avail. I most humbly request the provincial government to take steps to solve this important issue on a priority basis because Gwadar is the future of Balochistan and Pakistan.
