KARACHI:
On May 10, Israeli soldiers fired smoke grenades and rubber bullets at the Palestinians praying inside Al-Aqsa mosque. This was followed by a series of bombings between Israel and Palestine. Israel inflicted huge damage on Gaza. Israeli rockets killed approximately 230 Palestinians including a large number of women and children. The intense bombing continued for 11 days after which a ceasefire was called.
The only question that one might ask an Israeli stakeholder is what Israel achieved at the end of these 11 days. If their objective was to demonstrate power and suppress the voice of the Palestinians then they have failed badly. The Palestinians are as motivated to protect their homeland as they were before these airstrikes. They have shown that they will not back down no matter what sort of brutality they have to face. Even though most countries around the world have decided to look the other way, there are a few who remain steadfast supporters of the Palestinian people. We will continue to lend our voices to fight Israeli oppression in whatever means we can. Let’s not lose hope just yet.
