KARACHI:
With the rise in temperature in Karachi, power outages have also started. The citizens have been suffering from long spells of power blackouts — especially in the night hours which trouble even more. In many cases, electricity is not available for as many as four to five hours. A lot has been said on the problems that the people of Karachi have been facing due to frequent interruptions in power supply, but all the cries have fallen on deaf ears. The K-Electric management does nothing to improve the situation. It goes without saying that the lack of power supply is affecting the physical and mental health of the citizens, besides disturbing their daily routines. It also affects manufacturers and traders.
I request the federal and provincial governments to take a special interest for redressing the power supply problem. It’s not a new problem, and has been there even before my birth. The authorities need to come up with a permanent solution to nip the evil in the bud — for good.
