Littering

Letter April 29, 2021
It looks as if littering has turned into our collective habit

KARACHI:

It looks as if littering has turned into our collective habit. People throw leftovers and waste materials wherever they feel like — out of their homes, in open places like parks and playgrounds, on the roads, in canals, etc. Heaps of garbage can be seen at places in my hometown, Turbat, with the stinking smell spreading far and wide, causing inconvenience to people. The dirt and filth spilling on to the roads lead to traffic jams, and cause air and water pollution. They also produce mosquitoes in large numbers which in turn lead to diseases. I, therefore, request the authorities concerned to focus on steps to avoid littering, and devise a mechanism for proper disposal of waste.
