KARACHI:
According to economists, stable and staggering economic growth cannot be attained without the participation of women in the labour force. Women’s inclusion in Pakistan’s labor force is extremely meager. Pakistan cannot bolster its economic growth without involving half of its population. Mere provision of health facilities and education are not sufficient. There is an increasing demand for more skilled labour in the current economic context. Therefore, effective steps should be taken to increase female participation.
In this regard, creating awareness and teaching young women modern skills will have a society-wide impact. It will subsequently enhance their decision-making power within the familial context as well. There is no denying the fact that a working woman potentially has a greater chance of saving herself from an abusive husband. Therefore, inclusive policies are required to provide the much-needed space at workplaces for the female population in our country as they are equally an integral part of our society. Such endeavours could be the harbinger of socio-economic prosperity and a step forward towards a gender-balanced society.
