I’m a resident of old Anarkali bazaar in Lahore. For the past few months, my family has been suffering from a mobile signal reception issue, including frequent call drops. At first, I believed it was the fault of my network provider, but then I came to know that people using other networks are having similar issues. Since weak internet connection is hampering my work, I have filed multiple complaints with the respective service providers. One service provider notified that people in the area were facing similar issues due to the installation of illegal signal boosters in the vicinity. The customer representative was kind enough to inform me that the authorities have been notified and action will be taken to remove these boosters.
This is why these recent stories on PTA acting against illegal signal booster users is a welcome development. Although the action took place in Islamabad, I’m sure the regulator will take strict steps against such people in Lahore as well. This is a serious issue and wrongdoers must be ready for a stern action.
