National anthem is the pride of every nation. It rejuvenates the sense of patriotism in people. We as Pakistanis are also proud of our national anthem. It is ranked as the best national anthem in the world because of its lyrics and musical tone. It was written by Hafeez Jalandhary in Persian.
Unfortunately, a large number of people in Pakistan do not understand or speak the language, ultimately not understanding the national anthem as well. Since we join school we are made to learn the anthem, not taught its meaning. How can our national anthem motivate us, guide us and create a sense of patriotism in us when we don’t even know its meaning? I am a college student and neither do I nor do any of my class fellows know the meaning of our country’s beloved anthem.
Something has to be done. Apart from creating awareness regarding the matter, its meaning should be taught in schools across the country in order to instill a true sense of patriotism.
