KARACHI:
The whole nation celebrated the Pakistan Day that marked the Lahore Resolution of 23rd March, 1940 that led to the creation of Pakistan on the 14th of August seven years later. The resolution was passed in the Minto Park which was later named Iqbal Park and where now stands the magnificent Minar-e-Pakistan monument. It was the Lahore Resolution that kind of gave the mandate to the Quaid-e-Azam and his companions to fight for a separate homeland for the Muslims of the sub-continent. That way, the 23rd March marks the most significant milestone in the journey towards the creation of Pakistan. It’s unfortunate though that the people of our country, including our leaders, have forgotten the message of unity, brotherhood and sacrifice that the Pakistan Day reminds us of.
