KARACHI:
Turbat is perhaps the biggest and most populated city in Balochistan. As the city develops, its problems seem to accumulate and intensify since they are not being resolved in a timely manner.
In this regard, traffic is one of the long-standing issues that has been greatly troubling commuters. Drivers are not willing to follow existing traffic rules since they can easily bribe policemen and get away scot free. Moreover, people tend to park their cars and trucks wherever they want, without a care in the world. Many motorists drive recklessly and even children as young as 11 and 12 years old, who are not even eligible for driving licences, can be seen driving above the speed limit. One cannot expect them to be aware of traffic rules and regulations at that young an age. This rash mindset is a cause for great concern since the reckless actions of drivers not only cause severe traffic jams in busy areas of the city but road accidents have become all the more rampant.
Furthermore, technical issues such as lack of street lights and non-functional traffic signals have also been simultaneously increasing while roads and infrastructure remains dilapidated. I, therefore, request the Chief Minister of Balochistan to take notice of the traffic woes in the city.
