KARACHI:
The law-and-order situation has never remained favourable for the people of Karachi in the last few decades. Not a single day goes by without any untoward incident. The people of the city live in a constant state of fear owing to increasing instances of snatching, looting and stealing. Perhaps the most common crime witnessed all across the city is when thieves try to steal from people who are busy withdrawing money from ATMs.
Unfortunately, there are hundreds of ATMs scattered across the city that do not have functional locks. It is because of this that crooks find it easy to enter the ATM and steal all the money, especially at night when no security guards are present. ATMs are used for the quick withdrawal of money, therefore having a proper lock mechanism is essential in order to prevent such crimes from occurring. There have also been instances inside ATMs where refusal to hand over the money has resulted in death.
In the light of such a dangerous situation, bank managers need to be wary of the situation and take immediate action. Apart from installing functional locks, it is extremely important for banks to devise other safety mechanisms in case of emergencies. Safety and security should be the top priority.
