Undermining the pandemic

KARACHI:

It is shocking to note that despite the constant upsurge in coronavirus cases across the country, the government is hell bent on easing restrictions. If we are to take a cursory look at the current situation around us we will find numerous cases where families have significantly suffered from the deadly virus, either physically or financially.

The government need not act irrationally. Our people have wisely come to terms with these much-needed limitations placed in order to avoid large scale damages. Therefore, it is advised that the concerned officials refrain from taking decisions in haste. We cannot afford the emergence of a third wave and risk more precious lives because of the ill-timed decisions taken as a result of vested interests. Restrictions on indoor events must be reintroduced immediately and people must be told repeatedly that Covid-19 remains to be a health hazard for all.
