Film industry

It is important for those working in the media to be aware of the influence they have on people

AWARAN:

There are no qualms about the fact that the inappropriate behaviour of celebrities impact the traditional and cultural values of a country. In Pakistan, the film industry often perpetuates a toxic culture that seeps into the mindset of people. Dramas that promote the wrong type of values are often viewed the most all across the country. They influence the society to such an extent that females and teenagers try to unconsciously mimic what they see on screen. This is why people often copy the fashion trends of movie stars. However, the opposite can also be true. It can be said that movies and dramas reflect the values and morals that a society holds. Hence, both have a synchronous effect of the other.

It is important for those working in the media to be aware of the influence they have on people, and thus be careful when perpetuating information as well as content. Instead of focusing on family drama and romanticism, dramas should promote the idea of social responsibility and the ideals of Islam.
