KARACHI:
The agreement signed by NAB with Broadsheet for the recovery of black money exposes the incompetence and ill intent of those who were at helm in 2000 and thereafter in 2003, leaving behind a cobweb of problems. Until the rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution is upheld properly, Pakistan will continue to suffer. It is rather ironic that a country led by men of integrity and commitment like the Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal was soon hijacked by self-serving opportunists who banned all politicians and created a controlled authoritarian system of governance.
No individual in power, irrespective of whether he holds power through the ballot or the bullet, has the right to pardon those who have robbed the nation’s wealth through corrupt practices or proceeds of crime. The nation is rapidly deteriorating, while those who robbed this country through the abuse of power enjoy the fruits of institutionalised corruption.
