Education in Ormara

Letter January 16, 2021
I humbly request the provincial government to turn its focus on improving the quality of education in remote areas that have remained neglected for decades

KARACHI:

Education is not only a basic human right but also serve as the building blocks of a successful nation. It enhances a person’s intellect and illuminates his mental capabilities. Unfortunately, millions of children around the world are deprived of this fundamental right, either due to increased exploitation, constant wars or extreme inequality. Those institutes that do offer top-notch education, more often than not charge a hefty fee that not many can afford.

Moreover, in a developing country like Pakistan, the very foundation of the education sector remains in a shambles due to rampant corruption. Many schools in villages and towns across the country lack proper infrastructure, qualified teachers and adequate resources. As a result, the literacy level of the country remains extremely low. Ormara, a town in Gwadar district, too suffers from the same deplorable fate. There are only seven schools in the area but sadly none of them is functioning properly. Due to an ever-deteriorating situation with regard to education, many children prefer remaining out of school and get indulged in drugs or crimes while many others are forced into labour at a young age so that they could earn for their family.

In the light of this pitiful situation, I humbly request the provincial government to turn its focus on improving the quality of education in remote areas that have remained neglected for decades. It is time to start reforming from the bottom and build our way to the top. This is the only way our country can progress. The sooner we realise this the better.
