There is nothing new about prolonged and frequent power cuts in Karachi. The citizens of Karachi have been suffering from this menace for years and years, so much so that they have kind of learnt to live with it. But the ongoing spell of electricity loadshedding in the city has been pretty agonising — not just for residential consumers but for the commercial ones too. There are areas in the city where electricity is only available for an hour after every two to three hours. Some of the areas are enduring marathon sessions of power failures. Even the localities that have been exempted from loadshedding because of full recovery of dues are being subjected to power cuts. Sadly though, nobody is bothered. The federal government must take an urgent notice.
