The Kashmir Issue

Letter September 24, 2020
What is more worrying, however, is the fact that neither the UN nor the OIC have condemned India for their crimes against humanity

It’s been more than a year since the status of Kashmir was deliberately altered by the devious Modi regime. The abrogation of Article 35-A and Article 370 had urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to expose the violence happening in the valley and since then Pakistan has been calling on international organisations for their support regarding the matter. Although there is undeniable evidence that the Indian government is carrying out heinous crimes against the people of Kashmir, no visible steps have yet been taken to mitigate their suffering.

What is more worrying, however, is the fact that neither the UN nor the OIC have condemned India for their crimes against humanity. Though the UN had passed Resolution 39 and 47 aimed at resolving the conflict, even after seventy odd years it has badly failed to implement it, and while they commemorate their 75th anniversary, the unresolved Kashmir issue raises serious questions on its credibility. It is high time the UN set this agenda as their top priority in order to save the lives of Kashmiri citizens. On the other hand, Pakistan should continue to expedite their efforts on all fronts. The Foreign Office should, through the support of other superpowers, put maximum pressure on Modi’s monarchy until they succumb.
