Procrastination leads to fiasco

Letter August 21, 2020
Only then can the nation move towards a more prosperous future.

Undoubtedly, procrastination is a virtue of failure. One who delays his responsibilities for no reason tends to bite the dust in every walk of life. An individual who puts off his activities is akin to an ostrich who thinks that by putting its head in the sand everything will be alright. But the problems are never solved, instead they keep on building. Therefore, we should bear in mind that time once gone never returns.

Unfortunately, we are among those nations who think of procrastination as a form of rest. In contrast, the more progressive and staunch nations consider it as a vice and attribute it with being lazy. They, instead, utilise their every moment in achieving their objectives, because they are well acquainted with the importance of time. The glaring example for us is of China. It got independence in 1949 and within 72 years it has become one of the most powerful nations in the world. Their “One Belt One Road” project is no less than a wonder.

According to a scientific study, one who puts off his flurries suffers from a psychological disorder of escapism. Such a person keeps oscillating between the execution of his plans and his faux thoughts while never being able to accumulate his goals in life. So, if Pakistan is to thrive, it has to abandon its lax behaviour and start executing its plans timely. With the same token, it is absolutely vital that corrupt practices are eradicated and corrupt people taken out of power. Only then can the nation move towards a more prosperous future.
