Political leaders in Pakistan have made it a habit of hoodwinking the masses for their own personal gains but forget their promises the moment they grab power. On paper, political parties agree on the multiple issues Pakistan is embroiled in but their actions fail to match their claims. Since 1980, every single government that assumed power has blamed their predecessors of corruption and bad policies, illuding the people into believing that the country is at the brink of total collapse. However, a short glimpse at their manifestos shows that they themselves are no different, instead, a blame game is being ensued.
However, the one scapegoat or a common enemy they all seem to have found are the civil servants. The country has lost many competent civil servants who would not tow the lines of corrupt politicians. Even though governments blame the bureaucracy for the ills of the country, their own so-called reforms seem to perpetuate more corrupt practices.
The truth is that no government can function without a team of good civil servants. Our worthy PM must understand that they need to confide in their team of officers to enable them to function and implement their policies. However, officers cannot function well in the absence of good policy and strong support of the government. Unless the government focuses on its job and let the civil servant do their job, no reforms will be successful.
