Poor infrastructure

Letter August 13, 2020
I hope the authorities concerned will pay an urgent attention to this appeal

KARACHI:

Karachi makes the biggest contribution to the national exchequer, but its citizens get nothing in return. They are suffering like no other in the country. Whether you talk of civic infrastructure or provision of utilities; whether it is a matter of healthcare services or educational facilities, the country’s biggest city and its financial capital is in dire straits. This step-motherly attitude towards a city that accepts people from all corners of the country in its fold is beyond comprehension.

Here, I particularly want to mention the dilapidated condition of the road that leads to the famous Mewa Shah graveyard. It’s no more a blacktop road and has turned into a sandy turf. The road is the only way to reach one of the largest and oldest graveyards of the country, named after the 19th century Sufi saint, Mewa Shah who struggled against the British colonial rule. The graveyard is the final resting place of a lot of distinguished personalities. The road leading to this graveyard needs to be repaired forthwith. And this time around, it should be carpeted properly so that it could also withstand rains.

I hope the authorities concerned will pay an urgent attention to this appeal.
