Who else would have saved you from militant factions if it had not been for Pakistan Army?
KARACHI: In Pakistan, a certain section of the public is always seen criticising the allocation of the defence budget without fully understanding how the Army fights enemies of the state day in and day out. Such people are quick to denigrate the government’s decision from behind their keyboards and conveniently go to sleep at night in their air-conditioned homes.
In an unlikely event of a war or an attack, those who keep on bashing our army on social media would, in the blink of an eye, flee to another country. The truth is that, owing to multiple threats, our country needs a strong defence to survive, especially when we are constantly surrounded by merciless enemies who are eagerly waiting for an opportunity to attack Pakistan. Yet, those who choose to remain naive do not understand the urgency of the situation. They compare Pakistan with Switzerland and other Scandinavian countries that have less spending on defence and more on education and healthcare. But they ignore the fact that this is simply because these countries are politically neutral and have pacifist neighbours.
Who else would have saved you from militant factions if it had not been for Pakistan Army? They have been highly successful in neutralising the threat of terrorism across and within the border; and will continue to do so till their dying breath. As citizens, it is our responsibility to support them.
