I urge the people of my nation to adhere to these SOPs so that together we are able to defeat this deadly virus
KARACHI: As the Covid-19 cases in Pakistan surge, with 76,000 infections and 1,600 deaths, the policies of the federal government and its coordination with provinces via the National Coordination Committee (NCC) has been commendable. The government adopted measures to ease the lockdown to ensure that citizens do not die of hunger by enforcing a rather smart lockdown policy.
Even though the heads of the provincial and federal governments are tirelessly trying to control the crisis, the citizens of Pakistan also have a duty to act responsibly and defeat this latest threat to humanity. A smart lockdown is arguably not the most effective measure to fight the deadly virus but the deteriorating standard of life in Pakistan has required such a measure to become a necessity. With the considerable easing of the lockdown, the federal and provincial governments have agreed to ensure that citizens strictly follow SOPs in this time of crisis.
As a citizen, I urge the people of my nation to adhere to these SOPs so that together we are able to defeat this deadly virus. Measures have been placed for our safety. Therefore, we must respect and treat them as a moral obligation. The virus does not target any class or creed, but rather humanity as a whole. I congratulate the federal and provincial governments for introducing these SOPs and urge citizens to follow them for their own good.
