ISLAMABAD: Learning is a continuous process that helps individuals reach their true potential. The freelancing marketplace in Pakistan is full of diverse and talented professionals who stay updated on the latest trends and are constantly trying to grow their skillset.
Everything from technical skills to leather goods and furniture can be marketed and exported using digital skills. There is much hope that an advanced digital marketplace of workers in Pakistan will facilitate the local e-commerce platform, allowing goods manufactured in the country to be sold both domestically and internationally. There are countless online training programmes that help empower the youth with marketable skills, which are in high demand in the freelance industry. Furthermore, bringing women and young girls into this digital marketplace will not only boost the size of the domestic economy, but also increase competitiveness, address growing demands, and allow for more families to meet their education, health, and lifestyle needs. Many of these programmes lead with the mission of creating a stronger workforce for a future which will be shaped by the Fourth Industrial Wave that will blur the boundaries between the physical, digital and biological worlds.
We can already see that companies have extensively begun outsourcing key roles to individuals who have the skills and the determination to provide services that were previously handled by the companies themselves. This is where taking an initiative is necessary. The government and other stakeholders need to support such programmes in order to help boost the economy.
